"Never doubt that a small group of committed people can change the world, indeed it is the only thing that ever has."
- Margaret Meade
Hundreds of small businesses have joined the United Way family to improve their business while giving back to the community in which they work, live and play. As the largest part of the business sector in Northeast Florida, small businesses have a huge potential to effect long-lasting and meaningful change on the lives of others. We all have a responsibility to make a positive difference for our community.
Here are ways you can get involved:
- Give a corporate gift* and double the value of your gift.
- Become a leadership giver with a $650 gift*.
- If the size and scope of your business allows, encourage your employees to contribute or let United Way run an employee campaign for you.
- Give your time to volunteer for "hands-on" community projects customized to your employees' interests. - Hands On Jax
- *The Community Care Challenge will match the increase on a corporate gift as well as match any new corporate gifts. Also, individuals pledging $650 or greater will receive a match from the Community Care Challenge of the difference between their gift and the Silver Level of giving ($1,000) and will be included in the Leadership Circle.
Give directly to the Community Fund and your dollars will be invested to meet the most critical health and human services needs on the First Coast. An employee in the smallest business can feel that his/her contributions have as much impact as any employee of the largest business.
In addition to the personal satisfaction and pride in being part of an engaged company, employees can also benefit directly from the services they help to support. United Way's 2-1-1 information and referral service is a quick, efficient way to help small business employees find help.
- Employers can be responsive to employee needs by educating them how to use available services.
- Employers can lessen the impact of impaired employee performance by encouraging them to use services that have proven effectiveness.
- Employees can access a full range of services readily available for personal and family needs, like options for child care or referral for individual or family counseling
- Employees can take advantage of financial counseling and emergency assistance.
