Past Board, Trustee, Campaign and Tocqueville Chairs Share United Way Memories

Biscottis Restaurant was filled with enthusiasm as 2003 and 2004 Campaign Chair Mike Cascone hosted a breakfast for United Way’s past chairs on Friday, March 14th. Leadership from 1964 to 2005 shared their fondest memories with each other. Charlie Towers, 1964 Campaign Chair and Co-founder of the Tocqueville Society, remembered when the Tocqueville Society had 20 members; Carl Rider, 1992 and 1993 Campaign Chair, shared about the dark days of Aramony; and Mike Cascone still remembers the thrill of co-chairing the campaign with Delores and Wayne Weaver in 2004, the year Jacksonville hosted the Super Bowl.

All agreed that United Way continues to play a significant role in the health and well-being of our community. They heard about and applauded United Way’s transformation going from a fundraising organization to one that is focused on making lasting changes in our community and helping people improve their lives.

United Way of Northeast Florida extends its appreciation to all of its past chairs. This group of community leaders laid the foundation for philanthropy and caring community wide.
