WILL Volunteers Clean Up for Spring
On Saturday, May 30, United Way’s Women in Local Leadership (WILL) gathered more than forty members and their families to take part in a volunteer day at three of United Way’s Success By 6 early education centers. Centers included St. Catherine’s Episcopal Preschool, Methodist Children’s Village and Happy Acres Ranch.
Throughout the day, volunteers and staff refurbished playground sets, planted flowers and vegetable gardens, and refreshed several buildings with a new coat of paint. Thanks to donations from The Home Depot and the City of Jacksonville’s Clean It Up Green It Up program, volunteers were equipped with gardening tools and supplies.
“WILL celebrates the important role women play to improve the quality of life for our community,” said Kit Thomas, Vice President of Major Gifts and Planned Giving. “Through volunteer projects, like this year’s Spring Clean event, WILL members are able to see first-hand the impact of United Way’s work in creating lasting positive change in the lives of children and their families. “
At the end of the day, volunteers enjoyed a catered lunch from Mojo Barbeque and live music provided by Built For Comfort Band.
