Real$ense partner CBS47 and FOX30
Television provided Real$ense with
air time for a phone bank on
Wednesday, April 16, where IRS volunteers
answered questions about the Economic
Stimulus Payments and told callers about
the free tax preparation taking place on
Thursday, April 24 for Seniors, Veterans,
and those on disability.
“It was one of our busiest phone banks
ever,” said Kaye Schmitz, Executive
Director of Real$ense. “We took 293 calls
in an hour and a half and all six phones
were ringing off the hook when the lights
were turned off at 6:45 p.m.” Evening
News Anchor, Paige Kelton, told the group
of volunteers, “We always love having you
guys here. You provide the community
with such a great resource, all we have
to do is tell people about it!”
Volunteers at the phone bank included
Erica Shaffor (Three Rivers Legal Services),
and IRS volunteers Mark Browne and
Priscilla Phillips, Co-Liaisons to Real$ense,
Lynette Wahlstrom, Florely Peterson, and
Pam Longino.
